The new exhibition at the Fermo Museums is part of the major cultural events of the regional project "The Seventeenth Century in the Marches". The exhibition, created thanks to the precious collaboration with the Mart of Rovereto, reinterprets a particular season of post-war Italian art.
A great event that recounts the exciting adventure of the Modern Painters of Reality, a group of artists who made their debut in 1947 by railing against the results of modernism to defend and recover the great pictorial tradition, between truth and illusion, from Caravaggio to Spanish and Flemish painting.
The exhibition will be open from 9 December 2022 to 1 May 2023.
At Palazzo dei Priori it will be possible to admire 80 works by Gregorio Sciltian, Pietro Annigoni, the brothers Antonio and Xavier Bueno, with Giovanni Acci, Alfredo Serri and Giorgio de Chirico, with whom they share the need for a "return to the profession"; and again, works by important ancient artists, a source of inspiration and model such as The adoration of the shepherds by Rubens (exhibited in the exhibition) and the Pentecost by Lanfranco which we find in the rooms of the Pinacoteca.
